The Illegible

February 2004 - n° 1

Theme

As the illegible can be the invisible side of things, the unknown within knowledge, the imperceptible behind the visibility,  this notion is uniquely placed to embrace the undetermined forms and meanings that art, literature and even science explore.

The illegible is the indispensable complement of the readable, if we don’t want the signification to be reduced to the lexical meaning or otherwise by limited preconceptions. The illegible is therefore a non-evident but interrogative concept to disclose the uncertainty as an active part of the meaning.
